Can They Defeat the 4-0 Buffalo Bills?
Three weeks ago, the Arizona Cardinals were sitting atop the NFC West Division with 2 wins and no losses. A terrific start for the season and a position the Cards haven't been in for a long time. Things were good, Coach Whisenhunt was looking like a hero (perhaps even Coach of the Year), and the Cards were gaining national attention. So much has happened in the following 2 weeks, the Cardinals, after losing to the Washington Redskins (24-17) and then to the New York Jets (56-35), have gone and dug themselves a rather big hole. Ironically, at 2-2, the Cardinals are still number one in their division, but the season is still early. Today will be the biggest test, yet, as the Arizona Cardinals go up against the 4-0, Buffalo Bills.
Last year, the Buffalo Bills organization seemed to be on the right track. Losing some close games that, maybe, should have been won, the Bills were showing promise and appeared to be making progress towards creating a winning team. This year, the Bills have continued their work ethics and have started the season with an awesome 4-0 record.
The Arizona Cardinals finished 8-8 last year, also, showing promise of great things to come. Cards fans were beginning to believe in their team. We were actually proud to be Cardinals fans. The future was so bright, we were wearing our shades.
After a 2-0 start, and then, badly, losing two games in a row, the Arizona Cardinals have got alot of work to do. Now, with Anquan Boldin (the Cardinals best wide-receiver) out for a few games, the task doesn't get any easier. Boldin, this year, has already recorded 27 catches for 366 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Cardinals quarterback, Kurt Warner has to step it up. It is almost scary to watch this aging Q.B. fumble his way through play after play, as if he was a rookie. Warner was given the starting job because, through years of experience and veteran leadership, he earned it. It is nearly impossible the come from behind, after such a disappointing first half, and expect to win a ballgame. Warner has only himself to blame for the Cardinals last, two losses.
If the Cards plan to win today against the Bills, they must be explosive in the first half and continue until the end of the fourth quarter. Domination is the key. Conservative-style football does not win games. The Cardinals are at home. In their own house. They cannot let the Bills come in and knock them around like a bunch of pathetic sissies.
To end this day at 2-3 just cannot be acceptable. The Cardinals must take care of the Buffalo Bills, regain momentum, and prepare for next week when they face their biggest rivals...the Dallas Cowboys.
